Turning that data into a viewable image requires <em>raw development<\/em>: demosaicing the sensor\u2019s color-filter mosaic and applying tone and color processing. Converting to JPG simply produces that finished, viewable version as a file you can hand to anyone.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The honest rule of thumb: <strong>convert to JPG for anything that involves showing the photo to a person or a website; keep ARW for anything that involves editing it later.<\/strong> Delivery, proofs, socials, quick triage \u2014 JPG.
