WEBA (.weba) is the audio-only form of Google's open, royalty-free WebM container, holding Opus or Vorbis audio. This conversion pulls the audio track out of the 3GP, discards the video, and re-encodes it to WebM audio for clean playback on the web and on Android.
Because both 3GP audio and WebM audio are lossy, this is a lossy-to-lossy re-encode — it won't recover detail the original recording never kept, though Opus is efficient enough to stay perceptually transparent at sensible bitrates.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does converting 3GP to WEBA keep the video?
No. WEBA is an audio-only container, so the video track is discarded and only the sound is kept and re-encoded. If you want to keep the picture, convert to a video format such as MP4 or WebM video instead.
Will I lose quality going from 3GP to WEBA?

WEBA plays in modern Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari 16+, and on Android, but some older or legacy desktop media players — particularly on Apple systems — don't recognize the WebM audio container. For the widest compatibility, convert to 3GP to MP3 instead, which virtually every device and player supports.
Can I make the WEBA file smaller?
Yes. In Advanced Options, lower the Quality Preset or set a Custom Bitrate (for speech, 48-64 kbps Opus is usually plenty; for music, 96-128 kbps). You can also downmix to mono. For batch size reduction across an existing library, the Audio Compressor lets you target a specific size or percentage.
