DNG (Adobe Digital Negative) is a raw still-photo format that holds the unprocessed sensor data from a camera. EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) is a PostScript-based graphics container used by print and vector-design workflows. This converter renders your raw DNG into a standard raster image and wraps it inside an EPS file so apps like Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, or a PostScript print pipeline can place it.
Converting a photo to EPS does not turn it into editable vector paths or give it infinite scalability. EPS is a container that can hold either vector artwork or a raster (pixel) image. A photograph has no geometric paths to trace, so the result is your raster image written as PostScript image data inside the EPS wrapper — "raster-in-PostScript," not true vector art. If you scale it up far enough it pixelates exactly like a JPG or TIFF would. Real vectorization (tracing a logo into paths) is a separate, manual process in a tool like Illustrator and only suits flat graphics, not photos.
There's a second tradeoff: a raw DNG carries wide tonal latitude at high bit depth (typically 12–16 bits per channel), but it is rendered down to a standard 8-bit raster before being wrapped in EPS. For most uses a plain raster is the better target — DNG to TIFF for lossless print masters, or DNG to JPG for sharing. Choose EPS only when a downstream PostScript or vector-editor workflow specifically requires it.

No. A photograph has no geometric paths to extract, so the converter embeds it as a raster image inside the PostScript wrapper. You can place and scale the EPS in a layout, but enlarging it past its native pixel size will look soft, exactly as a JPG or TIFF would. True vectorization (image tracing) is a separate manual task and only works well on flat logos and line art.
EPS stores the rendered photo as PostScript image data, which is uncompressed or only lightly compressed, so a single high-resolution photo can balloon to tens of megabytes. DNG, by contrast, packs raw sensor data efficiently. If file size matters and you don't strictly need EPS, DNG to TIFF or DNG to JPG will be far smaller.
Yes, in part. A DNG holds high-bit-depth sensor data you can re-expose and white-balance non-destructively. Converting to EPS bakes in a single rendered interpretation at 8 bits per channel, so the wide-latitude "negative" is gone. Do any exposure or color edits before converting, and keep the original DNG as your archive.
For most print and editing work, TIFF is the better target — it stays a clean lossless raster without the PostScript overhead. Choose EPS only when a specific tool or print shop asks for it, for example placing the image inside an Illustrator or InDesign document that expects EPS assets.
The output follows the standard Encapsulated PostScript convention with a %!PS-Adobe header and a bounding box, so it opens in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, CorelDRAW, and PostScript-aware print drivers. Because the payload is a raster image, no PostScript fonts or vector path data are involved.
