Turn a DNG (Adobe Digital Negative) RAW photo — or a whole folder of them — into a video clip. This is the general DNG-to-video landing page: the Video File Extension menu is a full format selector, so you can target MP4, MOV, WEBM, MKV, HEVC, AVI, WMV, and around 30 other containers from one place. It defaults to MP4 with the H.264 codec, the pairing that plays almost everywhere. Be clear before you start: a single DNG is one still photograph, so one file becomes a silent freeze-frame clip — but upload a sequence of RAW frames and Merge images stitches them into a moving time-lapse. If you only want a viewable picture rather than a video, convert DNG to JPG or DNG to PNG instead.

For an image source the converter writes a video-only file, so no audio codec is used whichever format you pick — the clip is silent by design.
If you merge a sequence of DNGs, the Image Duration you set for each photo is the inverse of the video's frame rate. Short durations play many frames per second (smooth time-lapse); long durations give a readable slideshow.

Frames are stitched in the order files are added, so name your DNGs sequentially (for example IMG_0001, IMG_0002) before uploading and they will play in capture order.
No. A DNG is one still photograph, so a single-file conversion produces a freeze-frame clip — the rendered image held on screen for the Image Duration you set, with no panning or movement. Wrapping one still in video adds no detail: a 20–60 MP RAW scaled to a video frame discards most of the original resolution, so video is a delivery format here, not an upgrade. To get real movement you need several DNGs merged together, or true CinemaDNG footage handled in a RAW-aware editor.
Yes — this is the tool's most useful job. Upload every frame your interval timer or phone time-lapse captured, choose Merge images, and set the Image Duration to the inverse of your target frame rate (1/24s per frame for cinematic 24 fps, 1/30s for 30 fps). The clip length is your frame count divided by the frame rate, so a 10-second time-lapse at 24 fps needs about 240 DNG frames. Fewer frames still work but play more like a fast slideshow than continuous motion.
If you have no specific reason to change it, keep the default MP4 (H.264) — it is the most broadly compatible pairing across browsers, phones, smart TVs, and editing software. Choose MOV for Apple and Final Cut timelines, WEBM (VP9) to embed a clip on a web page, HEVC (H.265) for smaller files at the same quality on newer devices, or MKV for a flexible archival container. Reach for AVI or WMV only when legacy Windows software demands those containers by name.
Because a still photo contains no audio data. For an image source the converter writes a video-only file, so the clip is silent by design rather than by accident — this is true whatever output format you pick. If you want music or narration, convert first, then add an audio track in any video editor; the silent file imports cleanly into every major timeline.
Yes, substantially, and it is inherent to the conversion rather than a tool flaw. A DNG holds unprocessed, high-bit-depth (12–16-bit) sensor data that must be demosaiced to become viewable; that render bakes in the file's as-shot white balance and a standard tone curve, then the high-megapixel image is scaled to a video frame and the codec compresses it with an 8-bit, lossy encoder. The result is fine for watching but is not a way to archive the photo, so keep the original DNG. In our testing, a single 24-megapixel DNG left on MP4 at the Very High preset produced a short, silent H.264 clip that played on phones and browsers without an extra codec download. To keep 16-bit editing headroom from each frame instead, render to DNG to TIFF first and build the video from those.
Your DNG's aspect ratio differs from the video frame, so the converter pads the empty space rather than stretching the picture. The default fill is white; change Background Color to black or any other color, or pick a Video resolution preset that matches your photo's shape, to remove or recolor the bars.
Yes. DNG is an open, royalty-free RAW format Adobe introduced in September 2004, built on the TIFF/EP standard as a camera-agnostic archival container, and it became an international standard as ISO 12234-4:2026 (published March 2026). Phones write it too — from Apple ProRAW's 12-bit DNG to Samsung Expert RAW's 16-bit DNG — so decoding is well supported and stable, and converting it carries none of the lock-in risk of a camera maker's proprietary RAW.
