A PDF page cannot move, so converting an APNG means deciding which single image lands on the page and how it sits there. This walk-through covers exactly that: how the frame is chosen, what the paper-size, margin, placement and alignment controls actually do to the result, and how to get several APNG files into one document instead of several. By the end you should be able to produce either a tight, image-shaped PDF for archiving or a properly laid-out A4 page for printing.

If what you actually want is every frame of the animation laid out as a contact sheet or as one page per frame, this is the wrong tool — it reads a single still image, not a frame sequence. Export the frames from an image editor first, then bring them back as separate files and combine them. Likewise, if you want the motion preserved, a PDF cannot help at all: keep the file as APNG, or convert it to MP4 and embed the video where it will actually play. The default image — in practice, the first frame. An APNG stores that frame as an ordinary PNG image stream so that decoders which do not understand animation still show something sensible; the remaining frames live in extra chunks that a still-image pipeline ignores. So the page you get is exactly what a browser without APNG support already displays for that file.
No. This converter treats the APNG as a single still image, so one file produces one page. Multi-page output happens only when you upload multiple files with "Single PDF" selected, in which case each file becomes a page in upload order. To get one page per animation frame you would have to export the frames as separate images first.
Upload them all, leave "Combine?" on Single PDF, and each image is placed on its own page in the order you added them. Choose Individual PDFs instead if you want a separate document per image. For a workflow built around assembling many files at once — including mixed formats — the merge to PDF tool is the better starting point.
Because a PDF page is opaque. Image Transparency defaults to "Unchanged", so the alpha data goes into the document, but the only thing behind it is the white sheet. Setting it to "Removed" strips the alpha explicitly, which is worth doing if a downstream printer or RIP mishandles transparent images. Either way the visible result on a plain page is the same.
The default is 75, which is a good balance for on-screen reading and email. For print or archival, push it toward 90-100 and accept a larger file. For a document you are only going to skim on a screen, 50-60 usually looks identical at page zoom and produces a noticeably smaller PDF. It is a re-encode of the placed bitmap, not a setting on the PDF container itself.
Open the Paper size dropdown and choose "Original". The page is then created at the frame's own dimensions, which is what you want for screenshots, stickers, and artwork that should not be letterboxed into a paper format. Pair it with "No margin (0")" for a PDF that is precisely the image and nothing else.
Slightly, because the frame is re-encoded at the Image Quality percentage when it is embedded. At the default 75 that is invisible on photographic content and only faintly noticeable on hard-edged graphics and small text. If you need pixel-exact output with no re-encode at all, extract the still with APNG to PNG instead — PNG is lossless.
Your file is sent over a TLS-encrypted connection, converted on our servers, and deleted automatically after a few hours. There is no sign-up, no watermark, and nothing is shared or made public. The only practical constraint on a very large animation is how long it takes to upload.
