DNG (Adobe Digital Negative) is a still photo — a high-bit-depth camera RAW frame — while TS (MPEG Transport Stream) is a video container built for broadcast and HLS streaming. Converting DNG to TS turns a single still into a short silent video clip that holds that one frame for a set duration; it carries no audio because the source is an image. If you have a whole sequence of DNG frames (for example CinemaDNG raw footage), this tool can also merge them in order into one moving clip. For a normal photo you almost certainly want DNG to JPG or DNG to TIFF instead — the TS output is for niche cases like feeding a broadcast or HLS pipeline that only ingests transport streams.

Because the source is a still photo, not a recording. A DNG holds a single sensor frame with no audio track, so the resulting TS is a silent video showing that frame. If you need a soundtrack, convert the image first, then add audio in a video editor or merge it with an audio file separately.
Yes. DNG stores high-bit-depth sensor data (often 12-16 bits per channel) with wide exposure and white-balance latitude. The TS output uses 8-bit H.264 video, so the extra editing headroom is baked in at convert time. Do any exposure or color grading on the DNG before converting, or keep an archival DNG/TIFF copy.
Usually not. For viewing or sharing one photo, DNG to JPG, DNG to PNG, or DNG to TIFF is the right move. TS only makes sense when a downstream system specifically needs a transport stream — a broadcast feed, an HLS segment, or a set-top pipeline that won't accept a plain image.
Yes. CinemaDNG and some cameras save footage as a stack of numbered DNG frames. Upload them together and choose "Merge images", then set Image Duration to a frame rate like 24 or 30 fps so each DNG becomes one frame of the clip. The frames are assembled in filename order.
TS is built for streaming and broadcast: it is packetized for error resilience over degraded channels and is the segment format behind HLS, DVB, and ATSC. For a file you just want to play or share, DNG to MP4 is friendlier and plays natively in browsers and on phones. Pick TS only when a streaming or broadcast workflow requires it.
In our testing, a single 24-megapixel DNG converted with the default "Very High" preset and a one-second hold produces a short, silent H.264 transport stream of just a few hundred kilobytes — essentially one frame repeated for the chosen duration. File size scales with the frame count and how long each frame is held.
