How to Convert JFIF to RM

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the RM file play an animation or just show one photo?
Just one photo. A JFIF is a single still image, so the RM output is that one frame held on screen for the duration you set, with no motion and no sound. To stitch several photos into a real slideshow, upload multiple files and choose "Merge images" instead of "Video per image."
Is RM still a sensible format to convert to?
Rarely. RealMedia is a legacy proprietary container with no native browser support, and most current players have dropped it in favor of H.264, VP9, and AV1. Only convert to RM if a specific old RealPlayer-based workflow or archive requires it. For a clip that plays everywhere, convert JFIF to MP4 instead.
I just want to view the picture — do I need RM at all?
No. A .jfif file is already a JPEG and opens in any browser, phone gallery, or image viewer. If a program rejects the .jfif extension specifically, rename it to .jpg or convert JFIF to JPG — the pixels are unchanged.
Which RealVideo codec does this tool output?
RealVideo 1.0 (RV10) by default, or RealVideo 2.0 (RV20) if you select it. Both are H.263-derived codecs from RealPlayer 5 and 6 era. This converter does not encode the later RV30 or RV40 variants, so older RealPlayer builds should still open the result.
Why is the RM clip silent?
Because the source is a still image with no audio track. The converter wraps just the picture, so there is nothing to encode on the audio side. If you need a soundtrack, build an MP4 from the image and add audio in a video editor rather than starting from RM.
Can I make the photo show for longer than a few seconds?
Yes. The "Duration" control sets seconds per frame and goes up to 10 seconds for a single image. For a longer hold, pick the largest duration value; for a quick flash, choose a fractional value like 0.5 seconds per frame.
