The spec supports multiple "subfiles" linked through image file directories (IFDs) — that's why a single .tif can hold dozens of scanned pages or bracketed exposures. Yes. The converter reads every IFD in a multi-page .tif and turns each page into its own frame. A 50-page scanned PDF-style TIFF becomes a 50-frame video — set Duration to 1 second to get a 50-second slideshow, or 1/30-second to get a 1.67-second flip-through. Single-page TIFFs work the same way; you just need to upload more files or use "Merge images" to chain several together.
For sharing anywhere — pick MP4 with the H.264 default. It plays on iPhone, Android, Windows, macOS, Chrome, Firefox, Safari 14.1+, smart TVs, and is accepted by Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Discord, and Slack. Pick MOV if you're editing in Final Cut Pro or iMovie, WEBM for the smallest file size on the web at the same quality, or MKV if you're storing the result locally and want mixed codec support. AVI, MPEG, FLV, WMV, RM, 3GP are mostly for legacy compatibility.
In Advanced Options, expand "Duration" and choose a preset: 1/60-second, 1/30-second, 1/24-second, 1/10-second, 1/5-second, 1/3-second, 1/2-second, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10 seconds per frame. 1/24-second matches cinema frame rate; 1/30-second matches standard NTSC video. For a slow document slideshow, 3-5 seconds per page gives reviewers time to read each one.
When images have different aspect ratios, the converter scales each to fit the output resolution and pads the remaining area with the chosen background color. Black is the cinema default; white matches paper-document scans; you can also pick from 25+ named colors (Red, Blue, Navy, Olive, Teal, etc.). If all your images already share the same dimensions, the background color never shows.
The Image-to-Video pipeline produces silent video by default — there's no audio track unless your TIFFs were paired with a soundtrack. To add narration or music, convert here first, then add an audio track in a video editor like Shotcut, DaVinci Resolve, or iMovie. We don't offer in-page audio overlay yet for this conversion direction.
Match the destination: 1080p (1920x1080) for YouTube, Vimeo, and most desktop playback; 1080x1920 for TikTok, Reels, Shorts; 1080x1080 for square Instagram feed posts; 2160P / 4K (3840x2160) if your TIFFs are 4K-or-larger and the target device is 4K. Going above your TIFFs' native resolution wastes bytes — upscaling doesn't add detail.
It depends on the codec and bitrate. TIFF is lossless; H.264, H.265, VP9, AV1 are lossy. With Quality Preset at "Very High" or "Highest" (or CRF 18-20 for H.264), motion is visually indistinguishable from the source for most viewers. Fine text in scanned documents can soften at lower bitrates — increase CRF/quality or switch to a lossless codec like FFV1 in MKV if document legibility is critical.
Free users can process files up to several hundred MB per upload; the practical cap depends on upload size and server processing time. A 30-second 1080p MP4 from a hundred TIFFs typically lands at 5-30 MB; converting an entire 5 GB TIFF stack to a high-bitrate 4K video will run longer and produce a larger output. Use the Target file size or bitrate controls if you need to hit a specific cap (Discord 10 MB free / 50 MB Nitro Basic, Gmail 25 MB, etc.).
