RW2 to DivX Converter

RW2 is Panasonic's raw still-photo format from Lumix cameras, and DivX is a video codec — so this is a still-to-video conversion, not a photo-to-photo one. Your single raw photo becomes a short, silent DivX clip that simply holds that one frame on screen for a set duration. Nothing is animated; it is one image shown as video. If you only want a viewable picture, convert RW2 to JPG instead, and if you want a clip that plays everywhere, RW2 to MP4 is the more universal choice.

  1. Upload Your RW2 File: Drag and drop the file or click "Add Files" to select your Panasonic raw photo. You can queue several RW2 files to convert with the same settings.
  2. Set the Duration: Under Advanced Options, use the Duration control to choose how long the still is shown — the default is 5 seconds per frame, with options from a fraction of a second up to 10 seconds.
  3. Pick Background Color and Resolution: Choose a Background Color (default black) that fills any area around the photo, and set Video resolution to Keep original, a Fixed Resolution, or a Preset Resolution such as 1080p.
  4. Convert and Download: Click Convert and download your DivX clip. Files are uploaded over an encrypted connection, processed on our servers, and deleted automatically after a few hours. No sign-up, no watermark.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my RW2 to DivX video have sound?

No. The conversion produces a silent clip. A single RW2 photo carries no audio track, so the DivX output is video-only. If you need narration or music, add it afterward in a video editor.

Does converting RW2 to DivX keep the raw file's full color depth?

No. RW2 stores 12-14 bits per channel with wide dynamic range, but DivX video is 8-bit. The converter bakes the raw's tones down to an 8-bit image before encoding, so highlight and shadow latitude that you would normally recover in raw editing is fixed in place. For editing flexibility, work from the RW2 first and only then convert.

Why would I convert a raw photo to a DivX video at all?

The main reason is to drop a still into a video timeline or onto a device that expects a video file rather than a photo — for example, a slideshow segment or an older DivX-certified media player. For simply viewing or sharing the picture, RW2 to JPG or RW2 to PNG is the practical choice.

Should I use DivX or MP4 for the output clip?

For a shareable, broadly compatible clip, MP4 (H.264) wins. DivX is MPEG-4 Part 2, a codec from 2001 that most browsers and phones no longer play natively. Choose DivX only when a specific older player needs it; otherwise convert RW2 to MP4.

How long is the output clip?

It matches the Duration you set — from a fraction of a second up to 10 seconds for the single frame. In our testing, a 5-second-per-frame setting at 1080p produced a short clip that loops the one image for those 5 seconds with no motion.

Can I convert several RW2 photos into one DivX video?

Yes. Queue multiple RW2 files and use the merge option to combine them into a single DivX clip, where each photo is shown for the duration you set. Leave it on per-image output instead if you want a separate clip from each photo.
