This tool extracts the audio track from an MJPEG file and writes it to OGA, the audio-only Ogg container. Read this first: MJPEG (Motion JPEG) is a video codec with no audio of its own. Each frame is an independently compressed JPEG image, and sound only exists when the clip was wrapped in an AVI or QuickTime container that also carried an audio stream. Webcam, screen-capture, and IP-camera / surveillance recordings are very often video-only — if yours has no embedded audio track, there is nothing to extract and the output will be empty or silent.
If the source is a camera or capture clip with a soundtrack, this converter pulls that stream out and re-encodes it to Ogg Vorbis. If the source is silent (most surveillance and screen captures), use a different tool instead:

Almost certainly because the source MJPEG had no audio track. MJPEG is a video-only codec, and many MJPEG clips — especially from IP cameras, webcams, and screen captures — are recorded without sound. There is no audio stream to extract, so the output has nothing to encode. Convert to MP4 instead if you actually want the picture.
Neither. This is an audio extraction: the JPEG frames are discarded and only the audio stream is written to OGA. If you want the moving picture keep it as video with MJPEG to MP4; if you want a single still, use a frame-grab tool rather than an audio converter.
No. Vorbis is a lossy codec, so re-encoding can only match or reduce the fidelity already in the source — it can never add detail back. In our testing, leaving the Quality Preset on "Highest" and keeping the original sample rate produces the cleanest result; dropping the bitrate below 96 kbps is where artifacts start to become audible on music.
OGA (Ogg Vorbis) is open and royalty-free, and at the same bitrate Vorbis generally matches or beats MP3 in listening tests, particularly in the 96–192 kbps range. The trade-off is compatibility: Vorbis plays natively in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Opera, but Safari added full Ogg Vorbis support only in version 18.4. If you need the broadest device support, pick MP3 instead.

Open it in a desktop player such as VLC and check Tools > Codec Information (Ctrl+J on Windows and Linux) — if no audio stream is listed, there is nothing for this tool to extract and the OGA will be silent. MJPEG wrapped in AVI or QuickTime from a camera or capture app with a microphone usually carries a PCM or ADPCM audio track, while raw surveillance and screen-capture MJPEG typically has none.
Files are uploaded over an encrypted (TLS) connection, processed on our servers, and deleted automatically after a few hours. There is no sign-up, no watermark, and your files are never shared or made public. The main practical limit on a large recording is upload size and time, not your device.
