If you actually want a photo — to print, edit, or share a single image — MPEG is the wrong target. Convert MRW to JPG for a small, universally compatible photo, or to TIFF when you want to preserve as much tonal detail as possible for further editing. MPEG only makes sense when you specifically need a video file (a clip for a timeline, a display loop, or a slideshow segment). Also note that the converter reads the demosaiced image embedded in the raw; it is a one-way render, so you cannot recover the original raw latitude from the resulting MPEG.
